The new year is off to a competitive start.
Submitted By Erin Wilson on Monday, January 17, 2011
With three games under our belts, the second half of the season is off to a good start.

The U10's faced off against league competitors, Seaforth on Sunday, January 9th, in a match that proved to be a real nail bitter. Goderich started the game off on the right foot, with the first goal scored only seconds in, Eden with the help of Chloe put us on the board. Seaforth answered three more goals and we rounded off the first period with one more, this time scored by Marley assisted by Syd the Kid.

Net minder, Faith stood strong between the posts with the help of her solid defense, Emma, Haley, Grace and Jayden, they kept a tight line against Seaforth offense. The second period was end-to-end play with Goderich goals scored by Sydney, Chloe, Marley and Haley with assists by Lauren, Sydney, Jayden and Melly, it was a nail biter right down to the buzzer, resulting in an eight-all tie! An exciting start to the new year for Goderich!

The following Tuesday we headed out of town, to play Mitchell White, a fierce competitor for us. Goderich struggled to keep up, as Mitchell dominated the ice that night, a win was not meant to be. With a final score of 7-2, we headed home knowing hoping our next meeting would be much different.

That meeting came on Sunday, when we got a chance to redeem ourselves. A practice and a pep talk seemed to pay off as we took to the ice with a win in our sites. Our goal tending was outstanding, as Syd the Kid stood strong between the pipes - her stoic defensive lines of Mallory, Grace, Emma, Haley and Faith, kept Mitchell at bay. Goals scored by Sarah, her first of the season, and Haley, assisted by Marley and Jayden, we had a 2-1 lead heading into the second period. Three more goals increased our lead thanks to Marley and Haley with assists going to Lauren and Sarah, we held onto our lead with a final score of 5-4. Offensive players, Emily & Gracie dug deep to help out their line mates.  Truly a team effort with contribution from everyone on the bench - it all added up to a victory!
