U10's Bring Home The Gold!
An incredible weekend with 4 wins puts the Goderich Novice team at the top of their game!
After two wins in a row leading up to the Richmond Hill tournament, the girls were confident they would do well on new turf. The first of two games Friday morning was a nail biter against Mississauga. Both evenly matched, the game could have gone either way, but Goderich pushed harder and pulled a head for a 5-3 finish. We took our win and headed into game two more pumped than ever.
We took to the ice against host team, Richmond Hill, anticipating they would be out for a win on their home ice. A slow start for Goderich gave Richmond Hill an early lead and it seemed like an early morning and long day had caught up to us. But after a pep talk on the bench and a second wind, Goderich put on their game faces and turned the game around with a 10-5 finish. Two wins and one to go, the medal game was within reach!
Saturday evening we faced off against Oshawa, in a game that would showcase the girls team building skills. With positions being changed up in the second half, first goals of the season were scored by many girls and with confidence at an all time high. A landslide win, the girls were secure in their place for the gold medal game on Sunday morning.
An early start but spirits high, it was the game we were all waiting for. With three wins so far, we were the team to beat as we took to the ice against Mississauga again. Scoreless for what seemed like an eternity, we put ourselves on the score board and never looked back. Incredible teamwork, amazing goal tending and a whole lotta skill earned the gold for Goderich with a 7-3 win over Mississauga!
Congratulations girls - you deserve it!
