A Silver Finish at Regionals!
With a season of skills coming together, the U10's hard work pays off in Silver.
We headed into Regional weekend anticipating a tough round against Seaforth, who we played first thing Friday morning, resulting in a 4-1 loss for us. Game two would get our momentum going as we took to the ice against Kitchener and a battle till the end saw us with an 8-6 win. A team effort from offense, defense and goaltending was the key.
Day two of Regionals started at noon against Waterloo with goals being netted left, right and centre, it was our game to dominate. With final score of 8-3, we had our second win that would hang in the balance as we waited to hear the outcome of Seaforth vs. Kitchener. Points for and against were not in our favour and Seaforth had to come out on top in order for us to compete for gold - and that they did. Round two, Goderich vs. Seaforth would take place Sunday morning at 8 a.m.
With quiet anticipation and Syd the Kid between the pipes, Goderich headed out to play their final game of the season. Seaforth netted the first point, only to be promptly answered by a fired up Goderich team. Back and forth, up and down the ice, one after the other each team answered the other's goals. It was going to come down to the wire. With less than a minute left, we needed one to tie. With a final shot on Seaforth's net and a diving save by their goal tender, the play turned over and back into the Goderich end as the clock ran down. A final score of 7-6 for Seaforth and a battle till the end - Goderich U10 played the best game of their season and brought home silver. Congratulations girls, you earned it.
Thank you for a great weekend and a great season.
