Another Great Win!

The Goderich Novice Team continued their winning ways against a good Seaforth team on January 15th. Lauren Smith got Goderich on the board early with an assist by Gracie McAuley. Mellie McClinchey was in net and did a great job along with her defensive lines consisting of Ella Wick, Grace Mayhew, Zoe Milne, Katie Ridsdale, Emma McMichael and Hannah Kent. Lauren scored again with another assist going to Gracie McAuley to give Goderich a 2-0 lead.
Faith Wilson scored back to back goals one unassisted and one assisted by Zoe. Sarah Strickland made it 5-0 with an assist by Emily Alexander. Lauren got a hat trick goal unassisted to make it 6-0. Goderich kept the pressure on and Jordyn Hodges scored with a great shot assisted by Katie Ridsdale. Seaforth finally put one away to make it 7-1 but Goderich responded right away with a goal by Emily assisted by Sarah. Seaforth made it 8-2 near the end of the period. Lauren scored her 4th goal of the period with a great assist going to Ella. Great work Lauren who had some extra motivation playing against her cousin from Seaforth :) All of the girls had a great first period and forwards Tatum Rivers, Michaela Alcock and Grace Taylor provided great support to their respective forward lines.
With the Goderich team leading 9-2 to start the second period the coaches used the opportunity to switch the girls around and let everyone try some new positions. It was great to see everyone respond to the challenge and have some fun playing in new spots. Mellie continued to do a great job in net and Seaforth only managed to score one more goal in the game. The game ended with a 9-3 win for the Goderich team.
