The Goderich Novice team travelled to London on Sunday, January 29th. Goderich got the goal scoring started with a goal by Sarah Strickland assisted by Katie Ridsdale. Shortly thereafter Emma McMichael put a shot away with an assist by Lauren Smith. This was Emma's first goal and it was a great one! Way to go Emma! Hannah Kent was in net and did an outstanding job and stopped countless shots before London was able to put one away to make it 2-1. Goderich responded less than 20 seconds later with a goal by Jordyn Hodges assisted by Emily Alexander. Hannah continued to make fantastic saves and her defence of Zoe Milne, Grace Taylor, Gracie McAuley and Faith Wilson did a great job all game.
Goderich added to their lead with Ella Wick putting one past the goalie assisted by Emily. This was Ella's first goal as well and it was a beauty! Awesome job Ella! Sarah made it 5-1 with fantastic assists from Tatum Rivers and Katie. Goderich ended the half up by 4 goals.
London got a quick goal to start the second period but Goderich closed the gap again with a goal by Lauren assisted by Zoe and Emma. Michaela Alcock also had a great game helping this line. Emily made it 7-2 with a great goal assisted by Jordyn. They didn't let up and Katie scored a minute later assisted by Sarah. Goderich had to come out and fight off a London power play and Emily scored short handed with an assist by Ella. London tried everything they could but Hannah was phenomenal in net and they only managed to get one more goal. Goderich ended the game with a goal by Faith assisted by Emma to finish it with a 10-3 win. It was a great team effort and the girls did a fantastic job passing and checking.
We're off to Richmond Hill this weekend for a tournament that should be lots of fun. Hopefully the winning ways continue...let's go Goderich!
