Fun Tournament...Disappointing Results
Submitted By CStrickland on Tuesday, February 07, 2012
The Goderich Novice team travelled to Richmond Hill this past weekend to take part in their annual ringette tournament. Game #1:  Friday, February 3rd vs ArnpriorThe game started off with Goderich looking a little sleepy and Arnprior taking advantage by going up by 2 goals.  Lauren got Goderich on the board with an assist from Faith.  Arnprior scored 3 more goals to end the period 5-1.

Goderich started the second period with a great goal by Sarah assisted by Jordyn.  Grace T closed the gap with another quick Goderich goal assisted by Emily.  Melly made several great stops but the Arnprior team was too much for the Goderich team to handle and they scored 3 more unanswered goals.  Lauren scored with 2 minutes left with an assist from Grace T to make it 8-4 but the Arnprior team responded right away and went away with a 9-4 win.

Game#2:  Friday, February 3rd vs Richmond Hill
The Goderich team was dominated by the Richmond Hill team right from the get go.  It was a hard game for the girls as they were back on their heels for most of the game.  Hannah made countless saves including several breakaway shots but the pressure from Richmond Hill made this a one sided game with an 8-0 loss for Goderich.

Game#3:  Saturday, February 4th vs Mississauga
With the Championship game out of their reach, the Goderich team was playing for pride and came out with lots of energy.  Melly did a good job in net and the defensive lines were phenomenal.  Way to go Ella, Faith, Katie and Emma for playing such an outstanding game!  Lauren scored a shorthanded goal to give Goderich a 1-0 lead.  Sarah added to that with an unassisted goal.  Jordyn padded the lead with a beautiful goal assisted by Emily.  Missisauga managed to put one away to make it 3-1 but Lauren answered immediately with a fantastic assist going to Katie.  Mississauga closed within 2 again to end the period.

The second period saw lots of action back and forth but no goal scoring until 3 minutes left when Mississauga made it a one goal game.  Goderich dug deep and were determined to come away with a win with Lauren scoring a hat trick goal unassisted to finish with a 5-3 win for the Goderich team.  It was a great way to end the tournament on a positive note!

Great playing throughout the weekend Michaela, Emily, Jordyn, Hannah, Gracie Mc, Melly, Emma, Zoe, Katie, Lauren, Sarah, Grace T, Ella & Faith

Everyone had a great time at the tournament and it was a fun team building event.  The next game for the Goderich Novice team will be this Sunday, February 12th at the Goderich YMCA vs Tillsonburg at 12:30 PM.
