Submitted By jmenchenton on Tuesday, November 2, 2010
The Goderich U12 Petite team came out with sticks flying in their first tournament of the year.

Friday night they played a strong game against the U12 Ayr team and came up with a win of 7-4, what a great start. First year player Emily Steenstra showed her strong side and picked up her first goal of the year with first time player Shannon Squire picking up an assist to start the game off with a bang.  Norena Goud scored forty five seconds later to make it a 2-0 game. The defense Sage Milne, Nicole Steenstra, Megan Dunn and Karly Heard kept pushing their way through to keep the ring flying to the other end of the ice for our strong forwards to score. Next to score again was Norena but flying through all the Ayrplayers was a determined Emily to score her second goal of the night wow what a fight.  Meagan Bettles  also was determined to show her stuff by scoring two great goals of her own and Norena one more to win the game. Jessica Lierman played strong in net keeping the scoring to a minimum.  The girls came off the ice heads high and proud of their first win.

Saturday morning our girls came out strong in the first five minutes of the game withBryn Lewis scoring the opening goal and Sarah Glenn assisting.  Norena Goud shot the second goal for Goderich just three minutes later with Nicole Steenstra assisting it.  The Forest team came on strong scoring the next three goals putting Goderich in a difficult situation with the score at 4-2 for Forest.  The forwards Kendra Menchenton, Emily Steenstra, Shannon Squire, Meagan Bettles, Sarah Glenn and Chloe Fergusonkept shooting on the goal trying to get sneak one past the Forest goalie.  MeaganBettles came up with one more goal but unfortunately Forest took the game 5-3. Good game girls.

Game number two on Saturday the girls put their lose behind them and started out fresh with Norena Goud coming up with the first goal of the game, while Sage Milneassisted.  The Mitchell team came back strong to tie it up with their first goal.  The defense came back strong and held off Mitchell long enough for Norena to score two more goals before the second period. Mitchell came back putting the score at a 3-2 game for us. The game went back and forth until finally Goderich  player KendraMenchenton came up with one more goal assisted by Sarah Glenn to finalize their win of 4-2 against Mitchell.

The final game for Goderich on Saturday night was a nail bitter of a game.  The ring went back and forth between Seaforth and Goderich with Jessica making some amazing saves and Megan Dunn, Karly, Nicole, and Sage helping to keep the ring from our end.  Norena finally scored with Kendra and Karly assisting it with five minutes left in the first period to make it a 1-0 game but Seaforth pushed through and less then a minute later tied the game up.  First period over we came back strong with Emily, Shannonand Meagan Bettles catching some great passes to put  our team in scoring position.  Second period both teams came out to win with Norena scoring again for Goderich with a strong performance put forth by Chloe Ferguson and Bryn Lewis who picked up the assist. With only 2:34 left on the clock and Goderich down by a goal Bryn came up with the tying goal. The team fought hard to get the extra goal but came up with a tie of 3-3 against Seaforth.  Jessica played an amazing game along with all the othersMegan D, Karly, Nicole, Sage, Chloe, Kendra, Sarah, Norena, Bryn, Emily, Shannon, andMeagan B.

The girls played hard and were very exhausted by the end but never let up while playing on the ice. They kept their spirits up and played a great game of Ringette all weekend long. Congratulations to all the girls, the great coaching staff and the cheering families in the stands for their efforts this weekend.
