Two Games In Two Days What A Result
Submitted By jmenchenton on Saturday, November 20, 2010
One win and one lose for the petite team last weekend.

The Petite team played a hard fought game last Saturday against their rivals Mitchell Stingers.  Our girls came out fast but gave up the first goal to Mitchell thirty seconds into the first period.  This woke them up and they came back five seconds later with Meagan B tieing up the game with the assist from Sage.  They battled back and forth with a vengeance tieing up the game every chance they could get.  At the start of the second period we were at a 2-1 lose but worked really hard with our defence skating back to help Jessica defend off the Mitchell team.  With only three minutes left in the game we were at a 4-2 lose and new we had to pick up our socks. Sarah came up with a goal and Shannon and Sage the assists to bring us within one of the fighting Mitchell team. Wow what a game to watch, checking the stands all the parents were biting their finger nails, could our girls tie it up.  Then the unthinkable happened, Mitchell took a late penalty which gave our girls the advantage.  Well unfortunately we had about ten shots but couldn't come up with the goal and had to take a lose of 4-3. The girls all put out great efforts to win and are looking forward to meeting Mitchell again.

On Sunday we traveled to the big town of St Thomas for our second game of the weekend.  We were prepared for a good game bringing many pointers from the game the day before.  We came out in the first period scoring as many goals as we could get our hands on. Six different girls scored in the first period including Shannon S with her first goal of the year leaving us with an 8-0 score at the end of the first period.  Second period started and coach Rob decided that we needed to change things up and moved the girls around into different positions giving everyone an opportunity to try something new.  This lead us to another three goals with again a first goal of the year from Megan Dunn and the assist from Karly H. The game was over with a huge cheer from our girls and a win of 11-0.  Everyone had a good day and a hard fought but successful weekend.

Make sure you check out our Parents Vs. Kids game this Sunday Nov.21 at the Maitland Arena at 1:30 it should be a good one.
