The Western Region Ringette League is now well underway, and, both of our local U12 teams have started out just perfect in a continuation of their skillful display at the MRC in late October at the annual kick off tournament hosted by Goderich each year. Both local clubs sit atop the W.R.R.L. with another undefeated team from Dorchester.

On Saturday, November 2nd, the Petite Blue travelled to Carling Arena in London to open their regular season. Rookie goalie, Hannah Kent, was stellar in the Goderich goal as the locals were clinging to a 2-1 lead at the recess on goals by Chloe Lewis and Hannah Greer. Six unanswered goals in the final frame sent Blue home from the City with an impressive 8-1 victory. Lewis tallied 3 more thanks to some great passing from Temika Walters on the blueline. Faith Wilson with 2, and, Katie Ridsdale rounded out the scoring in London.

Avery Cross Shines

The next day saw the U12’s hosting London at the MRC. Avery Cross, with her first W.R.R.L. goal, also had two assists helping the Ice Crushers explode for 8 goals in the first period coasting to an easy 9-1 victory in their home opener. Also scoring were Lewis(2), Wilson(2), Ridsdale(2), Greer, and Walters. The hard working defence pairing of Ella Wick and Melanie McClinchey were rewarded for their efforts with an assist each.

Arden Bowler notches 1st

On November 10th, a determined Seaforth/Exeter squad travelled to the MRC. Arden Bowler had a great game scoring her first goal, and, also contributing an assist. Petite Blue Coach, Erin Wilson, was ecstatic with Bowlers’ performance stating “Arden has been working very hard all year on her game and this is just awesome!” The locals needed a total team effort in this one from Kent on out as the visitors continually battled Goderich all game. Veteran sniper Lewis, on a nifty feed from Greer, followed by a goal by Wilson put the game away late allowing Team Blue to hang on for a 7-5 win.

The next week is a busy one for the Ice Crushers. They host Mitchell on Thursday, November 14th at Memorial Arena before travelling to participate in the Exeter Tournament on November 16 & 17th. The following week has them travelling to St. Mary’s on the 19th to face a tough “Stone Crusher” squad. Stay tuned as this could be an epic battle of “Crushing.”
