Continuing a busy stretch in the Western Region Ringette League, the U14 Ice Crushers travelled to Tillsonberg on November 14th.

The locals, who are becoming known for their “quick strike” offence, took the early lead on a nice solo effort by Ben C.. The home Twisters immediately began to capitalize on some great passing as they scored three unanswered by the middle of the opening period. Katie R. deposited the second goal for Goderich thanks to some hard fought ring battles from fellow line mates Arden B. and Michaela A.

Both teams continued to trade many excellent chances as Crusher goalie, Hannah K., was tested often. The home side scored two goals in the final minute of the period shocking the visitors with a 5-2 deficit.

With very little time to re-group, these local ring flingers exploded out of the gate as the veteran line of Lauren S., Hannah G., and, Sarah S. scored twice in the first five minutes to make things interesting. Ben C. tied the affair on a great feed from Melanie M., but, the Twisters re-gained a two goal lead shortly after. The quick skating Grace T. buried a nice goal with the assist going to Ella W. which was followed by another Lauren S. And Sarah S. marker to square the deal once again. After Tillsonburg went ahead with three minutes remaining, Katie R. scored her second of the game from behind the goal line on a feed intended for Michaela A. that banked off the helpless Twister goalie setting the stage for the powerful skating Lauren S. to complete the hat trick in the final minute giving the Crushers an exciting 9-8 road victory.

The MRC was the place to be with Waterloo coming to town for a matinee W.R.R.L. tilt. After a very busy assignment the previous day, Hannah K. was back between the Goderich pipes.

For the second game in a row, Ben C.g opened the scoring on a great feed from the strong skating Grace M. Sarah S. scored her first of two goals in the period with assists going to Lauren S. and Melanie M. Ben C. added another sending the home side to the break with a comfortable 5-0 lead.

Hannah G. got things going immediately in the final frame courtesy of some hard work by Ella W. and Megan K. Katie R. and Grace M. connected before Lauren S. fired her second of the game.  Grace M., who had a very strong game, increased the Crusher lead with the assist going to the unselfish Avery C. Grace T. completed the scoring completed the scoring for an impressive 10-0 Crushers win.

Coach Simon couldn’t say enough about his teams’ effort in recent weeks, but, made special mention of the relentless play of rookie defence Kiara P. Said the Coach, “Kiara may not have made it on the scoresheet this weekend, but, she was rock solid for our club and even played with a feisty edge.”

The Tweens have Saturday off to participate in the Santa Claus Parade, but, will hit the MRC ice again the following day at 12:30 pm when Kitchener will be in town.
